Goodyear Vice Mayor appointed to national committee

Goodyear, Ariz. (Dec. 28, 2016) – Goodyear Vice Mayor Sheri Lauritano was recently appointed to the National League of Cities (NLC) 2017 Public Safety and Crime Prevention (PSCP) federal advocacy committee. This committee has the lead responsibility for developing NLC’s federal policy positions on issues involving: crime prevention; corrections; substance abuse; municipal fire policy; juvenile justice; disaster preparedness and relief; homeland security; domestic terrorism; court systems; and gun control.

As a member of the committee, Vice Mayor Lauritano will play a key role in shaping NLC’s policy positions and advocate on behalf of America’s cities and towns before Congress and in Arizona.

Vice Mayor Lauritano was elected to her first four-year term in March of 2011 and reelected in 2015. She was elected to serve as the city’s Vice-Mayor by her fellow Councilmembers on June 8, 2015. Prior to joining the Goodyear City Council, Vice Mayor Lauritano served on the city of Goodyear’s Planning and Zoning Commission; the City Center Committee; and the ADEQ Community Advisory Committee. She has served as the chairperson of the National League of Cities’ International Council and has sat on the organization’s Transportation and Infrastructure Services Committee, the Finance, Administration and Intergovernmental Relations Committee and the Community and Economic Development Committee.

Vice Mayor Lauritano has lived in Goodyear since 1995 with her husband, Stephen, and their two children, Christopher and Victoria. Since 1994, she has been practicing law, specializing in criminal and family matters.
