Goodyear Civic Square at GSQ has been selected as the winner of the 2023 Real Estate Development (RED) Awards in the Recreation or Public Works Project of the Year category. The RED Awards are considered the Academy Awards of Arizona’s commercial real estate industry and represent the best of the best in Arizona.

“We are proud to receive this prestigious award and recognition from the commercial real estate industry,” said Mayor Joe Pizzillo. “Goodyear Civic Square at GSQ is a testament to what can be accomplished when public and private entities work together to create something truly unique.”

Goodyear Civic Square at GSQ is a modern, vibrant destination for residents and visitors alike, and currently includes Goodyear City Hall, the two-story Georgia T. Lord public library and a two-acre park. It’s located near 150th Drive and McDowell Road. GSQ is also the catalyst for Goodyear’s future downtown. The approximately 150-acre plot of land is being developed by Globe Corporation into an exciting new mixed-use project that will boast a variety of amenities, including a walkable downtown with shops, restaurants, entertainment, public art and diverse housing options.

“We are creating the future downtown of Goodyear, and it’s going to be an experience unlike any other in the West Valley,” said Globe President and co-CEO George Getz. “The completion of Goodyear City Hall in 2022 was just the beginning of what’s to come at GSQ, and it’s an honor to be recognized with this RED award.”

The process to develop Goodyear Civic Square at GSQ began in earnest in March of 2019 with a public-private partnership between the city of Goodyear and Globe Corporation. Butler Design Group designed the project; construction began in the spring of 2021 and was completed on time and on budget in August of 2022 by Ryan Companies.

“This award is a testament to the hard work and collaboration from our partners and talented project team who helped bring this project to life,” said Chuck Carefoot, Southwest region president of Ryan Companies US, Inc. “We are thrilled to see how Goodyear Civic Square at GSQ has been received by the community and look forward to the continued transformation of the area.”

There have been two exciting business announcements so far at Goodyear Civic Square at GSQ with more to follow. The Stillery, known for its live country music and late-night dancing, is expected to open later this year. In addition, an edgy new “boozy” brunch spot is expected to open at the square in 2024.
