Dynamic Aerial Tour Gives Birdseye View of GSQ

It’s a special time to be in Goodyear as what was once a scallion farm back in the 1970s is getting transformed into a downtown that we’ve all been waiting for. But since it can be hard to visualize what the future will look like, the city is sharing a glimpse of it through a drone tour.

Construction is popping up along 150th Drive near McDowell Road to develop GSQ – Goodyear’s downtown. The walkable urban center will be a destination for dining, entertainment and shopping. Several businesses have announced they’re coming to GSQ with many under construction.

Family-owned Globe Corporation owns and is developing the city's downtown. Recently announced businesses at GSQ include Bacchus Wine Bar, High Tide, The Stillery, Copper & Sage, Over Easy, The Yard Milkshake Bar, and Shake Shack. These are the types of businesses Goodyear has been asking for and they will be steps away from Goodyear City Hall, the library and Civic Square Park which opened in Aug. 2022.

"Our public/private partnership with Globe Corporation made this project possible and is also a catalyst for economic vitality as restaurants, retail and entertainment venues join us in this mixed-use development. GSQ is also home to GEN1, the city's first upscale office space. Confirmed tenants at GEN1 include coworking companies -- which is a popular new concept -- as well as KB Homes, nonprofit Arizona Cares, Bell Bank and Edward Jones. There are plans to build a second Class A office building in Goodyear Civic Square once the first building is leased out.

A second parking garage is also under construction and scheduled to open in May.
