Jared Askelson began his new role as the city's Finance Director this week. He's been with the city for six years; three years as Deputy Finance Director and has been serving as the interim director since January.

“Continuing to plan, develop and manage a smart, fiscally conservative budget will remain a top priority,” said Jared Askelson. “I look forward to enhancing the city’s financial policies and procedures and working alongside residents to meet the city’s vision.”

Jared brings over 20 years of government finance experience, which stretches across the state and includes management roles in every finance division. Prior to Goodyear, he served at the Arizona Game & Fish Department and cities of Mesa, Surprise and Casa Grande.

"Jared’s experience and attention to detail is so valuable for Goodyear," said City Manager Wynette Reed. "We are fortunate to have his leadership to leverage resources and to build transparency around the city’s conservative financial planning.”

Jared was born in Phoenix and grew up in the West Valley. He has a bachelor’s degree in accountancy from Arizona State University.
