The newest episode of the city of Goodyear’s podcast, “Growing Goodyear,” is now available for download. In this episode, GSQ is Here, learn all about the exciting new businesses and restaurants that will soon be opening in GSQ and the vision for what Goodyear’s new downtown will ultimately become from Globe Corp. President and Co-CEO George Getz.

“We have a number of restaurants and retail that are going in and each one is different, each one is interesting with a focus on local,” said Getz. “Many of these businesses will be opening between now and the fall so residents are going to start seeing some activity there pretty quick.”

Plus, hear about the history of the GSQ site and why the plans for the property shifted from building a traditional regional mall to the city’s new vibrant walkable downtown.  

“This has been coming together since the early 2000’s,” said Getz. “The mall was ready to begin construction in 2007, but then the great financial crisis happened. Looking back, it’s a good thing the mall wasn’t started because the nature of retail and regional malls has changed.”
