Home MenuSpeak at a Meeting
The city of Goodyear values the comments and input from residents. If you wish to address the City Council or the Planning and Zoning Commission during a meeting, here are the steps to take.
What to do before the meeting:
- Complete a Speaker Request Form which are available inside the Council Chambers at Goodyear City Hall. Speaker request forms should be completed in advance of the meeting and given to the City Clerk or the Commission Secretary so that speakers can be called to the podium at the appropriate time.
- A separate form should be completed for each item you want to address.
- Unless the time limit is changed by the City Council, speaker's comments are limited to three minutes.
- Public comments are not taken during Work Sessions.
What to do during the meeting:
- When the City Clerk or Commission Secretary calls your name, please approach the podium and state for the record your name and whether you are a Goodyear resident.
- Speak clearly into the microphone so that the City Council or the Planning and Zoning Commission can hear your comments.
- Comments regarding items not on the agenda may be addressed during the Citizen's comment portion of the Agenda. Speakers wanting to comment on issues not listed on the agenda should be aware that the Arizona Open Meeting Law permits the body to discuss only those items listed on the agenda. The City Council or the Planning and Zoning Commission may refer such items to the City Manager or other city staff.
- If you intend to submit any written materials to the City Council or the Planning and Zoning Commission, please also provide a copy to the City Clerk or the Commission Secretary.
