The Police traffic unit was formed in response to the increase in traffic, collisions and traffic-related offenses. Consisting of state-of-the-art BMW motorcycles, one Zero all-electric motorcycle and traffic enforcement vehicles, the traffic unit is dedicated to reducing injuries and fatalities caused by vehicle collisions, DUI enforcement, speed enforcement, and seatbelt/child restraint enforcement.

According to a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) survey on aggressive driving attitudes and behaviors, more than 60 percent of drivers see unsafe driving by others, including speeding, as a major personal threat to themselves and their families.

Aggressive driving behavior is responsible for thousands of deaths and injuries throughout the country each year.

What Should I Do if Confronted by an Aggressive Driver?

  • Make every attempt to get out of the way
  • Do not challenge them by speeding up or attempting to hold-your-own in your travel lane
  • Avoid eye contact
  • Ignore gestures and refuse to return them
  • If you have a cell phone and can do so safely, call 911
  • Aggressive driving can easily escalate into Road Rage
