DID YOU KNOW? Every day, city recycling inspectors travel to neighborhoods in Goodyear to check bins for non-recyclable items. They will issue a notice to residents in an effort to inform and educate if they find non-recyclable materials in the recycling container.

General Information about Containers

• Customers can choose from 95-gallon and 65-gallon containers for both trash and recycling when signing up for service.
• Customers will be charged $8.11 monthly for each additional trash container.
• Containers belong to the City – not to residents. Containers are assigned to a specific address and marked with serial numbers.
• Residents shall be responsible for paying a $50 fee for multiple container size changes made within a year. The City reserves the right to provide a larger trash or recycling container to any resident that continuously evidences insufficient container capacity as exhibited by container overflows, spillage and/or litter.
• The City will charge an additional monthly fee of $8.11 to any residential account refusing to accept a recycling container. The reason for this penalty charge is to encourage recycling because the City better contains its costs with recycling.

Container Maintenance

• Maintaining the cleanliness of trash and recycle containers is the responsibility of the resident and is not a service provided by Goodyear. Regularly washing trash bins is recommended.
• Properly bagging and tying trash will also help keep your trash bin clean. To maintain freshness and help eliminate odors between trash days, sprinkle baking soda or spray fabric softener into the containers. 
• Use your kitchen garbage disposal for food scraps whenever possible or wrap food waste such as meat, fish, etc. with plastic or foil and keep in refrigerator until placing in trash container the evening before your assigned collection day.
• Damaged containers should be reported to the city for replacement. The city is responsible for repairs to the containers when damage is caused by normal wear and tear.
• Any container that is damaged due to resident negligence, such as fire caused by placing hazardous materials or hot ashes in the container, will be replaced at the expense of the resident.

Trash Information

• Bag and tie all household garbage and grass to comply with county regulations.
• Do not over fill your container.  Trash must fit into the container with the lid closed at all times.
• Do not place items on top, next to or outside of the container. If you do, none of your trash will be picked up because it is automated.
