Ad Hoc Committees
Periodically, major issues come up that require a decision of the City Council. It is common for the City Council to set up an ad hoc committee to research the issue, and make a recommendation to Council on what should be done. Committees have worked together for six to eight meetings or up to 18 months, depending on the magnitude of the issue. After making its recommendation, the ad hoc committee is then disbanded. Examples of past ad hoc committees are the General Plan Action Committee (GPAC) and the committee formed to study whether to permanently adjust the City’s alternative spending limitation.
