Home MenuUPDATE: Residential Lock Box Program
7-17-2024: The Residential Lock Box Program is suspended at this time as we are pending additional funding.
If you have previously applied, we still have you on the waitlist and will be providing updates as we have any.
The City of Goodyear Fire Department residential lock box program is designed to allow access to homes during medical or other types of emergencies where the occupant is unable to open the door. The residential lock box program also reduces the likelihood of property damage caused by first responders forcing entry into a home in response to an emergency call.
The residential lockbox program is a voluntary program for residential properties within the City of Goodyear, Litchfield Park residents, please call 623-932-2300 for information. In this program, a residential lock box is installed on the home, per COG Policy 104.3.03, to secure a key(s) for use by first responders in an emergency where the occupant is unable to open the door. The installing of a residential lock box does not entitled the homeowner to a "lock out service". This means if a homeowner accidently locks themselves out of their home, the City of Goodyear will not provide the homeowner access to their residence using the lock box program.
For existing/purchased lock box:
Under the old program, purchased lock boxes will be no longer be excepted however, the code will still remain in our response system for 1 year from application original date. Old lock boxes will be replaced with the new lock box when you re-apply under the new program.
Note:
-
Unless the lock box is installed by the homeowner, the lock box will be installed by Fire Department staff or volunteers on or next to the door jamb at the front (main) entrance to the residence. The lock box will be mounted utilizing either wood screws or self-tapping sheet metal screws, depending on the surface it will be mounted to.
-
Should the lock box be mounted at an apartment complex, a dated and signed letter from the property management or authorized representative is required, authorizing the lock box to be installed.
-
Should the lock box no longer be necessary, the Fire Department would request that the lock box be removed and returned to the Fire Department so that it can be utilized at another location in the future.
